People and women especially the world over constantly ask, what is the secret to beautiful sort younger looking skin. The reason for this question is that the skin tells a story of hardship, and age. The young are blessed with soft and supple skin, after all apart from not having grey hairs their skin condition is what makes young people look young.
Unfortunately we cannot stop the aging process, but we can stop premature damage that results in an aged look for our skin. My top 3 tips (in no particular order) for keep a youthful looking skin for as long as possible. 1. Health eating. You are what you eat. Eating too much high fat processed foods is not good for your skin. High fat can create excess oil in the skin. Additionally extra fat in the diet (if not used as energy) is stored by the body, as fat of course. This stretches the skin, and when the fat is lost it will leave wrinkles. The other macro nutrient to watch out for is too much protein. Athletes and those wanting bigger muscles will always try to eat an excess of protein. But to create a youthful look in you skin for the long term protein can be a disadvantage. This is because you body uses protein to replace its cells. The more protein, the the quicker the body can create new cells to replace the old. This may sound good until you realise that as new cells are created they are not always created as a direct copy, there are slight differences, and this contributes to ageing, or the aged look if you prefer. So I short watch out for too much fat and too much protein in the diet. 2. Sun protection. The second factor in premature aging of the skin is overexposure to the sun. The sun will break down the protection of the skin, and excess sun leads to sun burn and premature skin shedding, as per protein skin replacement above. Additionally the sun can leave minor scarring from dryness, unable to be seen with the naked eye. Over time this will deteriorate the younger look to your skin. If going outside it is always recommended to slip slop and slap. 3. Moisturise. Rounding out the top three best tips for a younger looking skin is to keep the skin from drying out. This is probably the most well know skin treatment tip so I will not go into too much detail here. The thing is moisturises will vary, and they all make great claims. The moisturised industry is big business, and they charge big dollars too. With so much research and development on moisturisers over the years, even the cheaper products have the benefit of technology on their side. I have always found that a higher price does not always equal better results. I use cheap moisturisers; the secret is to make sure I apply a minimum of twice per day. Additionally I drink lots of water, i try to drink at least 4 litres worth every day. Yes I am constantly going to the toilet but that is good for both inner health and my skin. Dehydration effects the skin greatly, so don’t let your skin, or your insides dry out if you want to retain that young glow in your skin. Comments are closed.
